Caitlin Bianco and Giavanna Villela promised to help boost student morale when they campaigned during Locust Valley High School student government elections. Winning the votes, and elected co-presidents, the high school seniors are making good on their campaign promises.
Their first random act of kindness was to place decorative leaves on the windows near the senior ramp, each one with a high school student's name written on it. The girls gained the support of fellow student government representatives who helped write all of the names. Caitlin and Giavanna said they hoped this small act of kindness would make all students feel loved and appreciated. They enjoy seeing students looking for their own names and getting excited when they find them and are already planning their next kindness initiative.
“I am proud to honor Caitlin and Giavanna for their efforts to ensure that all Locust Valley students feel included,” said Superintendent of Schools Kenneth E. Graham, Ed.D. “To hear the excitement in their voices when they talk about this project, which they spearheaded, is proof that being kind is truly a priority for them.”
