The International Baccalaureate Program at Locust Valley High School
International Baccalaureate Coordinator: Lisa Czerniecki, 516-277-5130
Locust Valley High School is entering its 20th year as an International Baccalaureate World School, offering the internationally recognized IB Diploma.
In addition to imparting knowledge, another major goal we share as a staff and with you is to prepare our students to become knowledgeable, inquiring, and reflective citizens and caring young adults, committed to a lifetime of personal, local, and global action in our increasingly integrated world. Through the vehicle of the IB Curriculum, LHVS staff work to provide an ideal adolescent learning environment in a framework of academic rigor that is necessary for success later in college. The IB curriculum allows teachers and students to grow, thrive and collaborate as lifelong learners, for whom hope, creativity, innovation, and curiosity are encouraged and celebrated.
While the IB Diploma Program (IBDP) is an excellent college preparatory program, we believe it is much more. IB coursework provides students with a unique educational experience full of student choice, independence, maturity of thought, and self-reliance, all of which are consistently identified by our alumni as personal qualities that they developed via their IB courses. Students at Locust Valley High School can choose from dozens of IB courses in six academic areas-- there is something for everyone. Our dedicated teachers attend trainings, curriculum roundtables, and collaborate with each other as well with teachers from other IB Schools to provide an IB Education to our students.
We strongly encourage all students to participate in the IB experience here at LVHS in the greatest capacity possible.
