Locust Valley Teaching Assistant Earns NASTAR Title

NASTAR Congratulations Ms Sidor Graphic thumbnail218747

Maria Sidor, technology teaching assistant from Ann MacArthur Primary School and Locust Valley Intermediate School in the Locust Valley Central School District, was recently honored as a NASTAR (Nassau Association of School Technologists Award Recipient). She was selected by the Nassau Association of School Technologists for her innovation, ability to seamlessly integrate technology into her classroom and exemplary technology leadership.

Ms. Sidor has been a technology teaching assistant since 2002 and has overseen and maintained the computer lab. She has seen many changes during the past 20 years in this role and has “loved being part of it all.” Most recently, Ms. Sidor has enjoyed assisting the library media specialist in introducing students to coding with the KidOYO platform, along with 3D printing.

AnnMarie Buonaspina, the coordinator of instructional technology and the fine and applied arts, K-12, believes Ms. Sidor is the “epitome of a ‘tech rock star’” in Locust Valley.

“Maria is an integral part to our Locust Valley Elementary community; she assists teachers and students with integrating and using technology each and every day,” Ms. Buonaspina said. “Maria is a lifelong learner who is always willing to help out and take on challenges. We appreciate her willingness and positive attitude when assisting us with everything tech related, from audio visual set-ups to helping out with our KidOYO hackathon teams.”

Ms. Sidor was recognized this month at the Year End NASTECH NASTAR Awards Celebration. The Locust Valley Central School District congratulates her on this outstanding achievement!
