Proudly dressed in their green graduation gowns, eighth graders from Locust Valley Middle School prepared to close the chapter on their middle school careers and open a new one at the high school. The moving up ceremony was held on Locust Valley Middle School/High School’s new turf field on June 21.
Central and building administrators, board members, staff and loved ones were present for the milestone occasion which consisted of eighth grade graduates reflecting on their time in middle school and hopes for the future, along with words of advice and encouragement from Principal H. Thomas Hogan, Superintendent of Schools Dr. Kenneth Graham and Board President Brian Nolan.
“We are thrilled to be part of your journey, and to continue watching you grow and explore new things – new friendships, new topics of interest, new places, and so much more,” Mr. Nolan said. “Know that we are here to support and celebrate you for many years to come.”
Dr. Graham expressed how proud he was of the students and assured them that they have much to look forward to on this new chapter.
“Locust Valley High School is full of opportunities,” he said. “As high schoolers, you will have access to extracurricular activities and a world class curriculum that includes courses to prepare you for college or a career beyond Locust Valley High School.”
Each student was announced at the podium where they received a handshake and certificate from Mr. Hogan. Family and friends cheered in the stands for their graduate.
Following the presentation of certificates, the Locust Valley Middle School Select Chorus, led by Brianna Brickman, performed “The Defining Moment.”
With the help of the Locust Valley Middle School band, directed by Vincent Guerra and accompanied by Lisa Conti, the Class of 2022 exited the ceremony ready to celebrate the next step in their academic journeys.
Congratulations to our eighth grade graduates!
